Yossi Lemel was born in 1957 in Jerusalem Israel. He is a political poster artist, creative director and a teacher, graduated and taught at the “Bezalel” Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. Workshops in Xalapa Mexico, Denver, El Paso, Minneapolis, Seattle, Istanbul, Stockholm and Milan. Lemel is a partner in the Lemel-Cohen Creative Agency in Tel-Aviv. Co-curator of the International traveling exhibition and book “Both Sides of Peace” Israeli and Palestinian posters, Museum of Contemporary Art Raleigh North Carolina since 1996. A jury member in Biennials and competitions in Moscow, Paris, Venice, Milan, Chicago, Mexico City, Heidelberg and invited guest lecturer in Boston, Minneapolis, El Paso ,Seattle, Milan, Istanbul, Athens, Stockholm. Environmental and social clients include: Greenpeace Mediterranean, Ecoocean, the Israeli Green Party, AmnestyInternational, the Israeli Civil Rights Organization the Museum for Islamic Arts,Bibel Lands Museum, Peace Now (Israel),The Ministery of Culture and Sport and the Ministery of the Environment. Lemel had 16 solo exhibitions in Berlin Sachsenhausen museum 2005, Hamburg -Museum fuer kunst und gewerbe 1998, Denver 2002, New Orleans 1999, Istanbul Garanti Galeri 2006, Casale Monferrato-Castelo Paleologo Italy 2007, Poznan- The National Museum, Poland, 2008, Beckmans Gallery, Stockholm 2009 and Jerusalem-Bezalel 1996. Has been awarded with numerous international awards including the 2008 Moscow International Biennial of Graphic Design Golden Bee Award, the Mons Triennial, Belgium 2007 Silver Medal Award (3 times), the 2002 Korea International Poster Biennial Grand prize, the 2002 Mexico International Poster Biennial Gold Medal and other 60 national and international more.
